Chaffey Secondary College Year 7 Scholarships 2027
The General Excellence William Birks Hawson Scholarship is available to
Year 7 students commencing at Chaffey Secondary College in 2027.
The William Birks Hawson Scholarships commenced in 1994.
This scholarship is merit-based and awarded to students enrolling in Year 7 the following school year. The scholarship is named after William Birks Hawson and has continued to be funded by the college.
Selection Criteria and How to Apply:
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must complete the William Birks Hawson Scholarship application form, more information in Term 4 detailing:
• Academic achievement
• Leadership qualities and experience
• Arts talent and experience
• Sports talent and experience
• Hobbies and interests
Students will need to list the name and email address of their Year 6 teacher. Their teacher will then complete the confidential Teacher Reference form. The referee link will be forwarded to the teacher once the student’s application has been received.
The college will offer ten Year 7 William Birks Hawson Scholarships for 2027.
Scholarship applications and supporting documents may be returned to the college in person between 8:15am – 4:15pm Monday to Thursday or 8:15am – 3:40pm Friday.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES AND CONDITIONS:
1. Students applying must be enrolled at Chaffey Secondary College in Year 7 for the 2027 school year by the closing date for applications. Late applications will not be accepted.
2. The scholarships will be awarded based on the student application and information provided by the referee/s.
3. The college may contact a second referee if additional information is required in the event there are more than ten applicants at equal ranking.
4. Chaffey Secondary College reserves the right not to award scholarships if the standard of the applications does not demonstrate the high standards expected.
5. Students may only apply using the scholarship application form supplied by the college.
6. Scholarship applications must be handwritten by the student.
7. All successful candidates will be advised of outcome of their application by phone and mail.
8. Recipients of the scholarship will be provided with their $100 Totally Workwear voucher (redeemable for Chaffey Secondary College uniform), $100 and book and stationery pack.
9. Scholarship certificates will be presented at the first, official whole-school assembly in Term 1, 2027.
10. Results are confidential and no precise information about any individual’s application or performance will be divulged.
